Lyudmila Gulyaeva has spent most of her scientific carrier studying drug-metabolizing enzymes and their associations with cancer. A special interest of her research is receptor-mediated mechanism of hormone-related cancer and role of microRNA in regulation of target genes. Molecular characteristics of studied tumors, along with clinical protocols, are used in Novosibirsk clinics for the medical supervision of patients. She serves as a Professor at Medical Department of Novosibirsk State University. Since 1992 she is a member of the International Society for the Study of Xenobiotics (ISSX). Her studies were funded by various leading Russian and International funds, including Grant of the Russian Ministry of Education «Universities of Russia»; Russian Ministry of Science (FASI); Russian Foundation for Basic Research, CRDF grant (USA); Grant of the Fulbright Scholar Program (USA). In 2014 she was a visiting professor in State Key Laboratory of Environmental Chemistry and Ecotoxicology Research Center for Eco-Environmental Sciences, Chinese Academy of Sciences, Beijing, China. Since 2015 she was rewarded with a grant of the Russian Scientific Foundation, for the cutting edge study in carcinogenesis field. The results of her scientific activity were published in over 170 scientific papers.
